Chacoan Horned frog
Last year I got a juvenile Chacoan Horned frog after losing an old male I had for 5 years. This is the story so far of Grump #2.....
The 'lil dude in July 2008

Living up to his name! Who says frogs don't have teeth? This one does! Not a true tooth but a small, notched extension of the lower jaw called an odontophore

Classic threat posture - facing directly forwards, open mouth, inflated lungs, ready to hop forwards

February 2009 - growing steadily and much more calm

Horned frogs are all about eating - check out that huge gob!

Pointed extension of the upper eyelid that gives the frog its common name
