Re: Breeds
o id love an airedale! There are so many breeds I would love to own for all different reasons. Have always had a soft spot for cocker spaniels especially the golden ones, just a nice size and soft as putty! Atm I have a Cheasapeake Retriever 7, and a lab alsation cross 12-who I notice getting older everyday. :(
Love the big powerful breeds-like Daddy, Pit Bull Terrier- (Caesar Milans dog in the Dog Whisperer)unless I move to America that will never happen! German Shepherds, Dobermans, Blue Great Danes etc, and my all time favourite on the top of my wish list would be an Alaskan Malamute-the ultimate dog in my eyes!

Re: Breeds
We have only the one dog Koda who is a Newfoundland aged 18 months, we did try adding another little dog called Molly but she was so terrified of Koda that we gave up. Koda is a real gentle giant and couldn't understand why Molly didn't want to play and kept hiding. ( Molly did go on to find a really good dog free home)
Koda, her owner Stephanie and Molly

Koda as puppy

Couldn't agree more Emma about big Daddy, he's a real character and isn't Caesar truly amazing!

Re: Breeds
I would have to have Chinese Crested and Shar-pei again. I love almost all breeds out there and have kept many pure breeds most of them rescue but these two would be my fave. Both HL and PP in Crested and my honey, well you'll never get a nicer Shar-pei. All are deeply missed but for the forseeable future no room for a dog.

Re: Breeds
Found some pics of my 2!
Heres Mason, lab-alsation cross (my big lad, loves gettin up beside me on the couch for a cuddle!)

And Tubbs,Cheasapeake retriever (ex gun dog) I rescued him from the brute that used to beat the life out of him, a vet check when I 1st got him found broken ribs, broken nose, broken tail and numerous cuts and bruises all over him-he is a real softy even after all he has been through.

Re: Breeds
whats the airedales like to keep. i like them but maybe a bit on the big side. toying with the idea of getting a wee terrier or probably 2 so they can be left on their own without going mad and wreckin the place. im thinking patterdsale/fell, jack, cairn, glen of imaal or welsh. last 2 might be a bit more money than im willing to part with. i have to talk it over with the boss first, and also consider the cat, if it comes back that is.............................

Re: Breeds
Airedales are great dogs. Loyal, laid back and comical in their ways. Full of fun and energy when out and about. Socialise them with people and other dogs and you will have a dog made in heaven. They love to run in woodland. They are there for you at all times.
I know what you are thinking, all dogs are like these that i have mentioned but once you have an airedale then its difficult to have another breed. Also i prefer large dogs compared to small dogs. I feel they have better temperments and just as this is a personal opinion i prefer to see a dog rather than stand on it accidentally.
Welsh are smaller versions of Airedales, pretty but if thats the size you prefer look into lakeland terriers too. Terriers are fun and up to something sometimes good or bad but you will like them. My airedales loved the cats and cuddled them.

Re: Breeds
well, ive had dave for 6 or 7 weeks now. hes a patterdale. the good thing about patterdales is that the kennel club dont recognise them, so they havent been ruined by breeders and showmen. he's hopefully going to be a working dog as well as a family pet... my granda is good friends with terry nuttall, whose father brian was involved in establishing the breed, and we're pretty certain dave can be traced back to the nutall line. so here he is at 15 weeks, already getting wispy round the face...................
