hognose temps

Post by thoth on Tue Apr 14 2009, 16:27

Does anyone know the correct temps for keeping the western hognose at ?, different people have told me different things, varying from 100f+ to 85f....

Anyone have any ideas as i want to transfer mine from a viv into a RUB (making room for further acquistions :) )

Hi,
I keep all my western hognoses at an ambient of 82oF. I have a hot spot of around 90oF and a cool end of 78oF. I do not vary day and night temperatures but in the fall and winter I bruminate them at 55oF for 3 months.

Thanks for this, i honestly think that some reptile places do not have a clue about certain species and just make something up if they dont have a answer !

This was because my hognose went off its food for about 4 weeks last year and they told me to bump up the temps !!!

I think it was coincidence that the temp rises seemed to work as i think the hoggy thought it should be burmating.
