Bredl's pythons

Post by morelia on Fri Jul 03 2009, 16:25

With the sun being out today I decided to make the most of it and take a few photos of a snake that first sparked my obsession with the Aussie pythons.....

Being from a desert habitat in the wild these guys LOVE the sun and were happy enough for me to plonk them down and snap away.

One of the reasons they are now regarded as a species - Morelia bredli - separate from the other carpet pythons (Morelia spilota) is their high scale counts - they have many more scales on the head and body than other carpet pythons

Their colouration and patterning is also perfectly adapted for camoflage in their native habitat - the central desert area of Australia, the 'red centre'

Karl, you know how much I love Bredl's, but even so, these two are quite simply stunning snakes. The third pic is amazing! If you'd consider swapping these for a nice pair of cornsnakes then i'm 'yer man'! lol!
